Construction of social residential houses in Imanta is started with time capsule embedding in the foundation

On June 27 at 15:00 a construction of three municipal social residential buildings was commenced in Riga at the address Imantas 8. līnija 1A. To honour this event, representatives from municipality and construction companies embedded a time capsule in the foundation to leave a message for next generations about important events that happened on the day construction was commenced. Construction works are performed by the company “RE&RE un Dārti” in accordance with the project by SIA “Eja”. The construction was procured by SIA “Rīgas pilsētbūvnieks”.

Residential buildings at Imantas 8.līnija will have a total of 290 social apartments as well as health centre and social services rooms. The buildings will be 5, 6 and 7 storeys high. Social residential houses significantly differ from similar projects, because they are developed to fully comply with the needs of elderly and disabled people, who are to be the future tenants of these social apartments. The construction of social residential houses, health centre and social services rooms as well as landscaping of territory will cost 9.34 million lats. The completion of buildings is planned by the end of summer in 2014.

“Already for 20 years RE&RE has participated in the construction of buildings necessary and important to Latvia’s culture, history and education, but, above all, to people. This project is of particular importance, because at the heart of its entire planning, development and construction process is human being, its future tenant. The entire infrastructure and environment of these buildings is shaped to comfortably accommodate disabled and elderly people. Appropriate and thought-out ramps, easily accessible health centre and social services, well-considered pedestrian road incline and height of stairs, spacious elevators and door openings are just some of the nuances. During project planning the most important factor was human being – the future tenant,” project is explained by SIA “RE&RE” Chairman of the Board Ainārs Pauniņš.

The ceremonial time capsule embedding event was attended by Mayor of Riga Nils Ušakovs, Deputy Mayor Andris Ameriks, Chairman of the Housing and Environment Department Vjačeslavs Stepaņenko, as well as SIA „Rīgas pilsētbūvnieks” Chairman of the Board Andrejs Požarnovs and SIA “RE&RE” Chairman of the Board Ainārs Pauniņš.
