Ridgepole Celebration at the New State Revenue Service (VID) headquarters complex

On Thursday, August 15 Ridgepole Celebration took place at the new State Revenue Service (VID) headquarters complex.

As Kaspars Zauls, Board Member of the Biroju Centrs Ezerparks Ltd. (BCE) pointed out ‘ridgepole celebration marks the moment, when the physically most requiring construction works have been completed, and the full volume of building is visible.’

At the moment the works of 2nd Stage are underway, and following works are done: concrete works (100%), installation of steel structures (100%), roof construction (70%), installation of façade structures and aisle fillings (72%), floor base (70%), entrance staircase and slope construction (65%), erection of partitions (56%), finishing works (14%), internal water supply and sewerage (40%), internal power supply utilities (37%), internal finishing, ventilation and air cooling (40%), smoke exhaust system (40%), low voltage networks (30%), external water supply and sewerage utilities (85%), external power supply utility and lighting (40%), integrated 10/0.4 kV transformer sub-station (85%), external low-voltage and telecommunications networks (40%), external heat supply utilities (95%) and landscaping works, roads and squares (40%).

It should be pointed out that preference in the construction is given to locally produced materials. For example, the reinforcement used is manufactured by Liepājas Metalurgs, but for the external walls Keraterm blocks produced by manufacturer of construction materials Lode Ltd. have been used. Those blocks are environmentally clean and manufactured exclusively from natural raw materials.

At the moment there are approximately 500 construction workers employed on site.

As BCE has stated before, more beneficial contract conditions for the state have been agreed upon in negotiations with the operator of the building and the construction company leading to savings of several million Lats for the state budget.

According to the plan the administrative building on 1 Talejas Street shall provide working space for 2500 employees from all the 14 VID units now spread all over Riga, it shall also host spacious and comfortable client service centre. The complex shall be completed on 2014. The developer of the project is Biroju Centrs Ezerparks Ltd., designer – Arhitects’ Bureau Sarma & Norde Arhitekti, main contractor - RE&RE Ltd., funding is provided by Nordea Bank.
